OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– A gang of Jewish settlers at dawn Tuesday set fire to the entrance door of Latrun Monastery near Ramla city and spray-painted blasphemous slurs against the Christian religion on its walls.
The monastery’s wooden door caught fire. The abbot, Father Louie, told an Israeli newspaper. “At around 3:30 am, a monk sleeping in one of the guest rooms heard noise, went outside and saw the door burning. He entered our rooms and began shouting and waking us up.”
“I went outside and saw the entire door on fire. He put out the fire with an extinguisher we had. If he had not done that, everything would have caught fire,” Father Louie added.
The settlers wrote slurs insulting Prophet Jesus and names of West Bank outposts evacuated previously among other slogans.
Leader of an extremist Jewish group Baruch Marzel told the Hebrew media today that the attack on this church was waged in retaliation to the Israeli court decision to evacuate Megaron settlement outpost.
