GAZA, (PIC)– Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, has called on the Palestinian people to “declare a third intifada against Israeli occupation until the release of prisoners from Israeli jails.”
This came during the opening ceremony of an exhibition organized by the Association of Detainees and Ex-detainees on Sunday morning, in the presence of Palestinian ministers, MPs, faction leaders and liberated prisoners, in addition to the Tunisian delegation which is visiting the Strip.
The exhibition included photos of prisoners that have been taken from inside the Israeli jails, and said that they are displayed for the first time.
Ismail Haniyeh said that the battle of the empty stomachs waged by the prisoners does not aim to draw attention. It is a real battle they wage to get their freedom, Gaza’s Premier stressed.
He emphasized on his government commitment to its responsibilities towards the prisoners’ issue and said: “We are ready to pay any price for their release.” He also called for the formation of a Palestinian national strategy to protect the constants and the resistance and liberate the detainees.
The Palestinian Prime Minister called for a third intifada in support of the prisoners held in the occupation jails, condemning the attempts to suppress the popular movements in the West Bank.
Haniyeh pointed to the Egyptian intensive efforts made to resolve the crisis of the hunger strikers in Israeli jails, and to pressure Israel to abide by the terms of the exchange deal sponsored by Cairo.
For his part; Minister of Prisoners’ Affairs Dr. Attallah Abu Subbah told PIC that the events organized in solidarity with prisoners have been increasing, and noted that this exhibition aims to support the steadfastness of the prisoners and their just cause.

“On Torture” is an edited volume of essays by Palestinian, Israeli and international legal and medical experts and practitioners based on presentations that they gave during a workshop held in Jerusalem in April 2011 entitled, “Securing Accountability for Torture and Cruel, Inhuman and Degrading Treatment (CIDT) in Israel: New Trends and Comparative Lessons”.
The essayists explore the history of torture in Israel, the daily challenges that practitioners face in seeking accountability for torture and CIDT in Israel, and the changing face of torture.
