CAIRO, (PIC)– Noted Egyptian diplomat and former deputy foreign minister Abdullah Al-Ashaal downplayed the international, Arab and Palestinian efforts to achieve any breakthrough in the peace process and affirmed these efforts are aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause.

“I do not think there will be peace between the Palestinians and Israelis as long as the Arab world had lost its will completely before America and Israel, which is in a position of strength and thus can give nothing for peace. Israel is a strange phenomenon free to do anything unlike other countries,” Ashaal underlined in a press statement on Sunday.

He also criticized the Egyptian regime, saying it is part of the international conspiracy that is aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause and was imposed unwillingly on the Egyptian people.

The diplomat ruled out in another context that there could be a national reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah and held de facto president Mahmoud Abbas fully responsible for that.
