GAZA, (PIC)– Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum stated that the absence of international justice and the American bias were the reasons that encouraged Israeli troops to kill a Palestinian young man on Sunday morning in occupied Jerusalem.

In a statement to the Palestinian information center (PIC) on Sunday, spokesman Barhoum added Israel exploited the absence of international justice, and the Arab and Islamic silence to commit further crimes against the Palestinian people.

The spokesman stressed the need for resisting the Israeli occupation in order to protect Jerusalem, the Islamic holy sites, and the Palestinian people, and called on the Palestinian Authority to stop its repressive acts against the resistance fighters and let them assume their responsibility for defending the homeland.

The young man is called Izzuddin Kawazba, a worker from the West Bank city of Al-Khalil and a father of six, and was killed after an Israeli soldier in Jerusalem shot him for allegedly trying to sneak into the 1948 occupied lands.

The Israeli soldier who shot him claimed Kawazba tried to steal his weapon and assault him during a chase, when a bullet inadvertently shot off and killed the victim instantly.
For her part, Hamas MP in Al-Khalil Samira Al-Halaika denounced the “criminal” incident, calling on human rights groups to act seriously to expose the inhuman practices exercised by the Israeli occupation authority against Palestinian workers.
She asked for international protection for those laborers, who are drived by their need to seek jobs in the 1948 occupied land, and lashed out at the PA for remaining silent vis-a-vis this incident and for not striving to secure a “dignified life” and work opportunities for those workers .
