RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Two Palestinian human rights groups on Sunday demanded the immediate release of Sheikh Khader Adnan, an Islamic Jihad leader, and all political detainees in the West Bank jails.

Dhamir (Conscience) for human rights said that it was concerned over the PA intelligence’s detention of Sheikh Khader, describing the PA security apparatuses arrest campaigns in lines of Hamas and Jihad affiliates and supporters as “political and arbitrary”.

It noted that military prosecution in Jenin on Saturday ordered the detention of Sheikh Khader for 15 more days.

For its part, Mizan center for human rights renewed in a press statement its denunciation of all forms of political detention, expressing dismay at ignoring legal procedures in detentions and at putting civilians on trial at military courts.

Both groups called for an end to the violation of the law and the release of all political detainees in addition to investigating the issue.

Khader had announced an open hunger strike since the first day of his arrest.
