QALQILIA, (PIC)– A military court affiliated with the security apparatuses loyal to de facto Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas passed a 20-year sentence against Alaa Dhiyab from Qalqilia.

Dhiyab was detained last June after he and two other of his comrades, all members of the Qassam Brigades the armed wing of Hamas, entrenched in the house of Abdulfattah Shreim.

Abbas’s militias killed Dhiyab’s two comrades Iyad Ebtali and Mohammed Attiya and took him in after wounding him in the eye. He later lost his eyesight in one of his eyes.

Military courts in Ramallah yesterday issued similar harsh sentences against Shreim and his wife and previously against three others all charged with affiliation with Hamas.

Meanwhile, Islamic Jihad sources told the PIC on Tuesday that the health of its leader Sheikh Khader Adnan deteriorated in Abbas’s jails after entering his sixth day of hunger strike.

They said that Adnan was adamant on continuing his hunger strike, which he started since his arrest by Abbas’s militias in his place of work in Qabatia village, Jenin district, until he is released from detention.

Adnan was a spokesman for Islamic Jihad in the West Bank and was detained for a number of years in Israeli occupation jails.
