GAZA, (PIC)– Palestinian premier Ismail Haneyya conferred with a delegation of the Red Cross on the latter’s activities in the Palestinian lands and the Israeli ban on visits to prisoners.

The meeting, held at the premier’s office on Tuesday, tackled problems suffered by Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation authority (IOA) jails and the racist practices against them.

The Red Cross delegates explained its role in visiting prisoners and meeting some of their needs in addition to exchanging messages with their relatives.

Haneyya appreciated the Red Cross efforts in this regard, and lauded its hosting of the weekly vigil by relatives of prisoners in Gaza.

He also appreciated the Red Cross for hosting the Jerusalemite deputies threatened with expulsion from their own city at the hands of the IOA, and hoped that the Red Cross would pressure the IOA into reversing its decision in this regard.
