NAZARETH, (PIC)– Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered to halt a Supreme Court ruling to shut down a Jewish synagogue built in the occupied West Bank, an Israeli media source said.

The Israeli Supreme Court previously issued a decision to close the Al Matan synagogue, which was built as part of a settlement outpost near the Ma’ale Shomron settlement in the West Bank after Palestinians filed a lawsuit claiming the building was erected on their land.

According to a report by Israel’s channel 10 website on Wednesday, Israeli war minister Ehud Barak ordered the Supreme Court to halt the decision to close the synagogue.

The source said the decision was made Tuesday in a cabinet meeting after settlers placed huge rocks and barbed wire on the road to the synagogue in an attempt to frustrate the court’s decision.

Likud Party member Danny Danon said he was satisfied over Netanyahus’s decision, which was made contrary to media expectations.

The settlement freeze was not discussed during the senior cabinet meeting.
