LATAKIA, (PIC)– The Palestinian information center (PIC) was informed that Qatar and Syria intervened with the Egyptian authorities to facilitate the travel of the fifth aid convoy “Lifeline for Gaza” to the Egyptian city of Al-Arish as a prelude to crossing into the besieged Gaza Strip.

A source from the convoy affirmed that Qatar assumed the expenses for all flights which the participants will take from Al-Latakia city on Wednesday evening, while Syria convinced the Egyptian authorities to facilitate their travel procedures and their entry with the aid into Gaza.

The cargo ship which is carrying more than 140 vehicles of aid left Al-Latakia seaport on Tuesday evening for Al-Arish port.

Spokesman for Viva Palestina Zaher Berawi said that Egypt wants the convoy to cross into Gaza at night to avoid drawing media attention and unwanted gatherings of citizens at the Rafah border crossing, but the organizers of Lifeline are insistent on entering Gaza in daylight in order to send the humanitarian message of the convoy to the whole world.
