NAZARETH, (PIC)– Israel’s internal security apparatus the Shin Bet declared responsibility on Wednesday for the assassination of Mohammed Al-Namnam earlier in the day in Gaza.

Hebrew daily Yediot Ahronot’s website said that Namnam was involved in a number of operations against Israeli targets for the “Army of Islam”.

The assassination was launched after the Israeli intelligence learned that he was planning a series of bomb attacks in Israel via the Egyptian Sinai peninsula, according to the paper.

The Palestinian interior ministry said that the car blast that killed Namnam and injured another civilian was the result of an Israeli drone rocket attack.

Meanwhile, six armored vehicles of the Israeli occupation forces raided the central Gaza Strip east of Breij refugee camp on Wednesday.

Palestinian security sources told the PIC that the invading tanks fired a shell at the eastern area of the refugee camp but no casualties were reported.
