Haaretz: The Israeli gov’t helps Zionist groups to seize Jerusalem real estate

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– Haaretz newspaper revealed that Zionist right-wing societies are secretly helped by the Israeli government to take over Palestinian real estate in different parts of the occupied city of Jerusalem.

The newspaper said that the Israeli government’s administration of lands is transferring Palestinian properties in Silwan district and the old city of east Jerusalem to the ownership of right-wing groups Elad and Ateret Cohanim for low prices without issuing tenders as required by law.

It noted that the government and the groups involved concealed the transactions and refused to give any information about them.

At the end of a lengthy legal struggle conducted by left-wing activist Dror Etkes, an Israeli court ordered the administration of lands to reveal only part of the information to prevent the properties’ identification.

Haaretz located three of these properties which the administration of lands reported on at an Israeli court’s order, but the list which this administration submitted to the court does not include dozens of properties, perhaps because they were handed over to other Zionist organizations or subsidiaries, some of which are registered abroad.

In a separate incident, the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) bulldozed Palestinian agricultural lands in Hares village, west of Salfit city, in order to expand its industrial zone and build more factories.

The IOA also handed five Palestinian Bedouin families notices ordering them to evacuate their homes in Abu Zreik village, southwest of Salfit.
