RAMALLAH, (PIC)– The Palestinian authority’s military court in Ariha (Jericho) city issued actual prison sentences against two Palestinian citizens affiliated with Hamas Movement.

Informed Palestinian sources said this court sentenced both Nizal Al-Asmar from Jenin refugee camp and Mohamed Abu Tame’a from Rumana village to one and a half year in prison on allegations of inciting against the PA and violating the law and causing disturbance in the community.

Hamas lawmakers in Jenin city condemned these sentences as arbitrary and illegal serving only the Israeli occupation and its lackeys and vindicating that the courts are controlled by the PA security apparatuses.

The lawmakers called for necessarily releasing all political detainees in PA jails in order to create the atmosphere for genuine reconciliation.

In a separate incident, the PA security militias in Nablus city kidnapped a Palestinian citizen called Nabil Anter only two days after he was released from Israeli jails, and also sent two other ex-detainees to jail after summoning them for interrogation.

A number of detainees released from Juneid prison in Nablus affirmed that PA jailers prevented Palestinian detainees from watching Al-Jazeera satellite channel and described it as provocative.

The PA jailers in Juneid prison had barred the detainees completely from watching TV for a long time, but they allowed them later to watch some channels except for Al-Jazeera after human rights organizations intervened.

In Ramallah city, the PA security militias still refuse to release noted Palestinian businessman Mohamed Thabet. He has been in detention for more than one month.

In another context, Hamas lawmaker in Qalqiliya city Imad Nofal stated on Monday that the PA security apparatuses interfere directly in the appointment and dismissal of civil servants in the West Bank and shape the governmental institutions according to one political affiliation.

“As there is much talk about the [Palestinian] reconciliation and the near completion of its last file, but the security apparatuses in the West Bank are still pursuing policies that are far from creating the atmosphere for reconciliation; they still arrest, repress freedoms, dismiss civil servants because of their political affiliation or for other reasons,” Nofal said.
