GAZA, (PIC)– The Islamic Jihad movement has categorically denied presence of Al-Qaeda cells in the Gaza Strip, describing such “Zionist propaganda” as planned to rally regional support for any future aggression on the Strip. Daoud Shihab, an official spokesman for the Jihad, stressed in a press statement published on Saturday that any new Israeli war on Gaza would be met with severe resistance and that retaliatory strikes would be farther than previous ones. He said that the recent escalation in attacks on Gaza was not new, but rather completes a long series of aggressions that targeted all life activity in the Strip. Shifting to another issue, the spokesman described the reported American guarantees to Israel in return for renewal of its settlement freeze as a “bribe”. In return Palestinians would only gain a big zero, he elaborated. Shihab said that Israel would benefit from both the huge military-financial assistance and from legitimizing settlement activity after end of the alleged freeze. |
