GAZA, (PIC)- Dr. Yousef Rizka, the Palestinian Prime Minister’s political adviser , said that Mahmoud Abbas’s talk about his conditional agreement to a state with temporary borders is a clear regression on past declared stands. In a written statement Rizka said on Thursday that this regression is a serious submission to the Zionist vision and a dangerous threat to the future of occupied Jerusalem which the Israeli government refuses to put on the negotiating table, especially after the passing of the referendum law by the Knesset. He further said that Abbas’s declaration in this regards means that there are no real negotiations but simply dictates by the Israeli occupation imposed on the Palestinians and also shows that there is nothing on the Zionist agenda regarding a final settlement. “What Abbas declared during the meeting of the revolutionary council of Fatah regarding his conditional acceptance of a state with temporary borders within the framework of a final settlement is not representative of the views of either the national or the Islamic movements in Palestine and only reflects his personal views and the views of his negotiating team which failed to convince the Palestinian people,” Rizka said. He also noted that Abbas, in his speech at the meeting, gave the impression that he was not serious about searching for alternative options, such as going to the UN Security Council, because he does not have the will to declare the failure of negotiations because he is afraid of the US reaction. He concluded by saying that has Abbas had the will he would be searching for alternative options which start by achieving national reconciliation and release of all political prisoners. |
