JENIN, (PIC)– Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said that his Movement is always concerned with the achievement of the Palestinian reconciliation, but the ball is still in the court of Fatah faction.

Spokesman Abu Zuhri castigated the remarks made by Fatah official Azzam Al-Ahmed in which he claimed that there was no use of talking with Hamas, saying these remarks were aimed at covering the conflicts and problems that happened lately between Fatah leaders.

“Al-Ahmed’s remarks about the reconciliation are of no value and they are aimed at entering into media wrangling with Hamas over the file of reconciliation in order to cover the security crimes being committed by Fatah against Hamas cadres in the West Bank, and the escalating internal conflicts,” the spokesman underscored.

“We are not meant to engage in any media wrangling, all we can say that Hamas is keen on reaching reconciliation and when Fatah will be ready for it, we will too,” he added.

Fatah official Azzam Al-Ahmed reiterated his claims that Hamas was not prepared for the reconciliation, as the security apparatuses of his movement were still waging a massive war on Hamas cadres in the West Bank.

Different local sources reported that the latest arrest campaigns carried out by Fatah security militias resulted in the kidnapping of seven Palestinians affiliated with Hamas, most of them students, in the cities of Nablus, Jenin, Tulkarem and Salfit.

In another context, former Palestinian minister Wasfi Qabha sent letters to Arab leaders in the 1948 occupied lands and talked on the phone with Arab Knesset members about the issue of the six Palestinian political detainees who went on hunger strike in protest at the serious violation committed against them by Fatah interrogators.
Qabha urged them to intervene with the Fatah-controlled Palestinian authority to have these detainees released from its jails in the West Bank, especially since their health conditions is reported to have deteriorated very badly.
