WEST BANK, (PIC)– Israeli troops rounded up thirteen Palestinians for questioning Thursday morning in the West Bank amid a wide-ranging campaign to pursue alleged wanted activists in the region.

Two Palestinians were arrested near the central West Bank city of Ramallah and taken in for interrogation, Israeli Radio reported. Their identities and the organizations were not identified.

Nine others were rounded up during an arrest spree n the city of Al-Khalil, Palestinian security sources said.

Numan Abdel Qadir Al Qaisiya,21, and Mustafa Ismail Al Qaisiya, 19, were abducted from their homes after Israeli forces raided the town of Dhahiriyya. Other arrests were also made after a raid on the town of Dora.

Israeli troops stationed at the Ibrahimi Mosque in the city of Al-Khalil arrested noon Wednesday Abdullah Abu Faara, 22, of Sourief.

In a separate development, rights groups in Palestine have noticed recently a campaign of prison transfers against a number of detainees in Israeli jails and extensive penal measures carried out on others.

The International Solidarity (Tadhamon) Foundation documented seven recent cases of prisoners being transferred from the Israeli Jalbou prison to other facilities in the country. Three detinees from other prisons were moved to Jalbou in their places.

Tadhamon foundation researcher Ahmed Beitawi noted that the Israeli prison administration launches campaigns of prison transfers from time to time with the intent of breaking the prisoners’ living stability and boosting confusion in their ranks.

Beitawi said extensive punitive measures have also been taken against several inmates. Jihad Yaghmour has been in solitary confinement in the Jalbou prison since last Thursday for filing a complaint to the prison general representation.

Another life prisoner in Hasharoun was taken to solitary confinement for allegedly gloating at the deaths of prison guards in the Jebel Al Kermel fire. The prisoner has denied the charge altogether.
