DAMASCUS, (PIC)– The Gaza-bound Asian Convoy 1 will set sail Saturday to Port El-Arish in Egypt from Syria before landing at its final destination.

The goods on board the Sierra Leonne-bannered “Salam” ship are estimated at 3 tons of food and medical aid alongside three ambulances, said convoy coordinator Yousef Abbas in a press statement.

Ten of the convoys 120 members will accompany the ship by sea while the remaining activists will time their travel by air from Lattakia, Syria to coincide with the vessel’s arrival in Egypt slated for Sunday.

The Lebanese mission, participating in the Asian Convoy to Break the Gaza Siege, has already left for Gaza as an element of the more inclusive Asian Convoy 1, announced Dib Hijazi, senior official of the Lebanese national initiative to break the Gaza siege.

The Asian Campaign, on an invite by the Lebanese initiative, paid a visit earlier to Beirut where they held civil and press meetings.
