Official source: Egypt will allow Asia aid convoy to cross into Gaza on Sunday

GAZA, (PIC)– The government committee against the siege said the Egyptian authorities will allow Asia aid convoy to cross into the besieged Gaza Strip on Sunday and stay there until next Thursday.

An official source from the committee stated that the humanitarian aid of the convoy will be shipped from the Syrian port of Latakia to the Egyptian port of Arish, while members of the convoy will fly to Cairo on Sunday morning.

The source noted that the Egyptian authorities decided to ban the entry of 60 participants in the convoy, mostly from Iran and Jordan, and allow in only 120 of them.

He added that the convoy represents 135 Asian civil institutions and is composed of seven trucks and four ambulances laden with food and medical supplies.

The government committee will hold a news conference upon the arrival of the convoy at Rafah border crossing.

In another incident, coordinator of Al-Quds convoys in Libya Nuri Ben Othman said that the arrangements are still underway to facilitate the travel of the aid convoy Al-Quds 5 to Gaza through the Egyptian lands.

Ben Othman added that the convoy is composed of 18 trucks loaded with medical supplies and appliances, food, equipment for people with special needs and generators, noting that this humanitarian campaign is supported and supervised by the Libyan leadership.
