RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Palestinian Authority security militias have since Friday arrested hundreds of Hezb al-Tahrir party supporters throughout the West Bank over a message the group gave in most West Bank mosques after Friday prayers.

The address accused the PA and PLO of wasting the Palestinian cause, forfeiting Palestinian territory that was occupied in 1948, recognizing Israel as a Jewish state, and negotiating on less than 20 per cent of Palestinian soil.

The West Bank-ruling PA has been coordinating with the occupying force of Israel to persecute the resistance movement on its turf. A Wikileaks cable disclosed that a Fatah leader asked the then Israeli security chief to strike the Hamas resistance movement in Gaza.

According to Hamas 2010 statistics, the PA made 3,000 arrests over political reasons, 1,404 of those arrests targeting captives who were previously released from Israeli and PA prisons. While Israel arrested 4,168 of whom 195 were former prisoners of the PA.

Those detained by the PA included 49 imams, 24 university professors, 36 journalists, 417 university students, 9 teachers, and 7 women.

More than 90 of those political prisoners were prosecuted in PA military courts.
