GAZA, (PIC)– Ehab Al-Ghussain, the interior ministry spokesman, has denied that Gaza government was holding political detainees in its jails, adding that all prisons are open for the media, the Red Cross, and human rights groups.

He said in a statement to the PIC on Sunday that there were no political detainees in Gaza and that none of the internees was on hunger strike.

He charged that Fatah’s attempt to picture detained criminals as Fatah elements and held for their affiliation was a failed attempt to cover up for Fatah’s crimes in the West Bank, where hundreds of political detainees are held and tortured.

The spokesman noted that Fatah-controlled security apparatuses in the West Bank were using various means of torture on imprisoned resistance fighters, adding that Fatah authority in the West Bank apprehended about 3200 Hamas and other resistance cadres and supporters in 2010.
