GAZA, (PIC)– Palestinian Prime Minister in Gaza Ismail Haneyya called noon Sunday on Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi, chairing the Arab Summit in its current session, to hold an emergency meeting to discuss the dangers surrounding the holy city of Jerusalem.

The Gazans welcomed today a Libyan aid convoy launched by the Libyan colonel dubbed the Libyan Quds Convoy 5 at the Ministers Council in Gaza.

Israelis angered Palestinians today when bulldozers tore down a Sheikh Jarrah hotel illegally claimed by Jerusalem’s municipality and sold to Jewish settlement moguls in a controversial move to isolate Palestinian neighborhoods and expand settlement projects there.

“We are in need of establishing policies to protect Jerusalem and strengthen the steadfastness of the people,” Haneyya said.

The Palestinian premier emphasized that Israeli attempts to change the holy city’s history and geography will not avail. “We are the indigenous owners,” he said.

Haneyya expressed gratitude for the Quds convoy 5 mission. “The visit not only represents support and solidarity with the Palestinians, but it is a progressive step in breaking the siege…Despite the siege, we have challenged by you and exposed Israel’s true face.”
