OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– A police investigation department, known by the Israelis as Mahash, indirectly closed a case recently pending against two policemen accused of leaving a Palestinian man to die on the side of a road, said the Israeli daily Yediot Ahranot on Friday.

Israeli police arrested June 12 Omar Abu Joreiban for allegedly staying in the country without a permit. He was apprehended at Tel Hashomer Hospital where he was being treated for fractures he sustained in May 2008 car accident that followed a police chase. His body at that time was connected to medical equipment.

When police failed to find a suitable place for Abu Joreiban, the station’s captain ordered that he be set free. Two policemen then proceeded to release Abu Joreiban on Highway 45 near the Khirbata checkpoint near Ramallah. He was found dead two days later.
