OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– The Israeli army might launch a new war on Gaza Strip if the security conditions at its borders continued to deteriorate, Sylvan Shalom, the Israeli first deputy premier, said on Sunday.

He said in an interview with the Hebrew radio that the army might just launch a similar operation to “Cast Lead”, stressing, however, that none was interested in such a development.

Shalom said that Israel would respond to Palestinian “rocket attacks” in a firmer way if the need arises.

Haim Yalin, Chairman of the Eshkol Regional Council in the western Negev, for his part, charged that the Israeli government did not exert enough effort to repel the Palestinian rockets fired from Gaza.
