DOHA, (PIC)– Turkish premier Recept Erdogan said that Israel’s policies constitute a major obstacle to the peace process and the stability in the Middle East and called for ending Gaza siege.

Erdogan told the Qatari newspaper Asharq on the eve of his visit to Doha that the Israeli government pursues policies that do not promote peace and stability in the region and led to considerable repercussions on its relations with Turkey, especially after its deadly attack on the Freedom Flotilla aid convoy.

He pointed out that the international fact-finding committee that was formed by the UN human rights council had confirmed Israel’s responsibility for the attack.

“I think that the UN fact-finding committee will also affirm that that there is no country above the law,” the premier highlighted, adding that Turkey will never give up its demands for an Israeli official apology and financial compensations for the killing of Turkish citizens.

As for Gaza siege, he stated that the Israeli blockade on Gaza people is only a mass punishment, and Israel still ignores the appeals made by many international and UN organizations for improving the living conditions in Gaza as well as the decision no. 1860 taken by the UN Security Council calling for lifting restrictions imposed on the entry of food and other vital needs to Gaza.
