ISTANBUL, (PIC)– The conference of the international coalition for the support of Jerusalem and Palestine kicked off on Saturday in Istanbul in the presence of Arab and Islamic dignitaries from more than 50 countries.

The conferees will be discussing the mechanisms for the support of Jerusalem and the steadfastness of the Palestinian people.

The conference is to issue a charter of Istanbul for the support of Jerusalem and Palestine, which states that “Palestine is an Arab and Islamic land belonging to the Palestinian people, and the Israeli occupation is illegitimate no matter how long it persists.”

The charter highlighted the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes they were expelled from by the Israeli occupation and considered the Israeli violations against the Islamic and Christian holy sites, especially the Aqsa Mosque, a threat to peace and stability in the region and the world.

It also stressed the need for intensifying the efforts to support the Palestinian people and give priority to the Palestinian cause over other issues in the Arab and Muslim worlds.

“We, as institutions of civil society active all over the world, confirm that we are fully prepared to cooperate and coordinate between us to achieve the rallying of our peoples around the Palestinian people and launch the project of the international coalition for the support of Jerusalem and Palestine,” the charter read.
