Jihad: Hamas does not impede reconciliation

BEIRUT, (PIC)– The main block to ending the internal Palestinian division is the continuation of the Fatah-controlled authority in Ramallah in adopting the option of negotiations with Israel, Abu Emad Al-Refai, the representative of Islamic Jihad in Lebanon, said.

Refai, in a statement to Palestine newspaper published on Saturday, said that the Ramallah authority’s total dependence on the USA had also a big role in impeding reconciliation.

He urged the Fatah-controlled authority to restore unity to the Palestinian people and to enhance the role of resistance and to insist on Palestinian rights.

Hamas does not hinder reconciliation because its resistance project is only successful through national unity, Refai said.

The Jihad representative said that his movement takes Israeli threats to invade Gaza seriously, explaining that Israel was naturally aggressive and did not cease its hostile policy ever since 1948.

Refai said that Israel was trying to justify a new war on Gaza through publicizing such reports as the presence of Al-Qaeda in Gaza or the resistance factions acquiring big amounts of weapons.
