DAMASCUS, (PIC)– Hamas strongly condemned the Israeli occupation authority’s (IOA) practices against senior prisoners Jamal Abul Haija of Hamas and Ahmed Saadat of the PFLP.

It said in a statement on Sunday that both leaders are held in isolation in a small prison cell void of the simplest prisoners’ rights and life necessities.

Saadat and Abul Haija were compelled to go on hunger strike to protest their bad incarceration conditions, Hamas said, holding the IOA fully responsible for the safety of both leaders.

It urged human rights groups to immediately intervene to end the suffering of the two leaders and to pressure Israel to end the policy of solitary confinement and other repressive measures against Palestinian prisoners.
