NABLUS, (PIC)– Palestinian MP Omar Abdel Raziq has been facing hard times since his arrest two weeks back.

Israeli intelligence arrested the Palestinian Legislative Council member and are now holding him for questioning in the Jalma interrogation center in northern Israeli-occupied Palestine.

Abdel Raziq wrote to Gaza prisoner rights expert Fouad al-Khafsh saying he was being interrogated for 15 straight hours daily, deprived of sleep, and threatened to be placed in administrative detention.

Interrogators threatened to arrest Abdel Raziq’s son if he did not inform Israeli intelligence of the nature of his work inside the PLC, Khafsh said.

Abdel Raziq, who is also the country’s former finance minister has denied all allegations and said he  reserves his right to work as an elected official. The lawmaker does not recognize the Israeli military court.

In a related development, Palestinian MP Mushir al-Masri called on an international assembly of parliamentarians meeting Monday to turn “condemnation into action”, and to put a stop to Israel’s abuse of Palestinian government figures.

Masri, head of the international campaign to free detained MPs, wrote to Inter-Parliamentary Union Secretary General Anders Johnson calling on him to shoulder responsibilities regarding Abdel Raziq’s arrest.

Masri attached to the document information Johnson previously requested to discuss in Monday’s meeting regarding the repeated arrests of Palestinian MPs Hatim Qufaisha, Mahmud al-Ramahi, Nayif al-Rajoub, Khalil al-Rib’i, Mohammed al-Tall, and Omar Abdel-Raziq.
