JENIN, (PIC)– The Israeli occupation troops (IOF) have stormed Thursday the West Bank, town of Yamon, and arrested two Islamic Jihad activist in harmony with another campaign unleashed by the PA security forces in the town for the same purpose. The PA-IOF campaigns against members of the I.J. came in the aftermath of the armed attack by I.J fighter Salem Sammodi against IOF troops’ checkpoint near an Israeli settlement built on usurped Palestinian lands in the city of Jenin, north of the West Bank. I.J sources and local eyewitnesses asserted that at least 15 IOF vehicles raided the town after midnight Thursday and started combing the town in search for I.J. members, arresting at least two of them Adullah Jamil Zayed, 29, and Zeyyad Sammodi, 18. Zayed was earlier summoned by the PA security forces but the IOF troops arrested him ahead of the PA security forces that also arrested four alleged activists of the Islamic Jihad Movement identified as Murad Nawahda, Emad Friehat, adeeb Sammodi, and Mohammed Zayed in addition to summoning more than ten members of the Movement to the PA security headquarters. The sources also added that an atmosphere of anger and disgruntlement spread in the town after the PA security forces banned prominent figures of the I.J. Movement, including Adnan Khadr, from attending the funeral of Sammodi or mourn him through loudspeakers in local mosques, and order that he be buried with his Kofeyyah only without any sign showing he is member of the I.J. Martyr Sammodi was detained in Israeli jails for four years, and the PA security forces chased and interrogated him after his release from Israeli jails and forced him to surrender a gun he used against the IOF troops. |
