Hebron – PNN – An Israeli Arab man sustained critical wounds on Friday morning after Israeli soldiers opened fire at his car near the southern West Bank city of Hebron.
The man, whose name remains unknown, was driving his car on settlers’ road number 60 that connects Israeli settlements in southern West Bank with Jerusalem. Israeli army sources said that a group of Israeli reserves troops set up a checkpoint on the road when they saw the man’s car they opened fire. Soldiers clam that the man speeded towards them and did not stop his car.
Israeli military officers later arrived at the scene and started an investigation; initial army reports indicate that the man, who holds an Israeli citizenship, may have not seen the military roadblock the soldiers have erected.
Today’s incident follows another one on Thursday when Israeli soldiers killed Salem Samoudi, 24, a Palestinian man from the village of Yamoun in northern West Bank. Samoudi, as killed when soldiers shot him from the military checkpoint located at the entrance of Mevo-Dotan settlement in northern West Bank.
Samoudi is the third to be killed by troops at military checkpoints in the West Bank. Erilier this month troops killed two men in two separate incidents while they were trying to cross checkpoints in northern West Bank.
