AL-KHALIL, (PIC)– Jalal al-Masri was wounded with a bullet to the head when IOF troops manning a road-block to the north of the southern West Bank city of al-Khalil. Reliable sources said that Masri (28 years), who is a Palestinian resident of 1948-occupied Palestine was shot and wounded in the head while trying to go through an IOF road block at the entrance of al-Khalil in Ras al-Joura neighbourhood at a late hour on Thursday night and that he was taken to the Hadasa Hospital in occupied Jerusalem. The same sources said that the victim was travelling in a car bearing yellow registration plates (Israeli) and that such cars are not usually stopped at IOF roadblocks. The IOF claimed that Masri, who was driving the car, did not heed instructions to stop, while eyewitnesses who were near the roadblock deny IOF allegations and say that the car was fired at spontaneously without prior warning. The number of shootings at young Palestinian men while going through roadblocks have increased in the past few weeks, three men have died in less than a month in the northern West Bank in such incidents. Many Palestinians living in 1948-occupied Palestine go to al-Khalil especially on the weekend to make their shopping. |
