Hebron, January 22 (QNA) – Dozens of Jewish settlers on Saturday broke into a farming community near Hebron in the occupied West Bank under Israeli army escort and seized Palestinian-owned land, witnesses said.

They said that dozens of settlers, backed by troops, raided the Litwani area south of Hebron, intimidated Palestinians and denied farmers access to their property.

The israeli army seized palestinian citizen Mohamed Rabei, aged 40 years, from Litwani area and declared the area a closed military zone, with a view to banning the palestinian farmers from staying on their lands.

For his part, Hebron Governor Kamel Hamid confirmed that troops and settlers were evacuating Palestinians from the area in an attempt to take land by force, but local Palestinians, joined by foreign peace activists, were resisting them to thwart the expropriation.

He said settlers aimed to confiscate about 150 dunums of Hebron land.

Scores of jewish settlers began Friday planting trees into the faming lands of the palestinian citizens in Kherbat Umm Al Khair , east of Yatta township , south of Hebron.(QNA) MD
