Israeli army denies reasonability for Gaza fatal blast

The Israeli army on Saturday denied its responsibility for the death of a Palestinian in the Gaza Strip.

A spokesman for the Israeli army told Israel Radio that the army is unaware of the blast that killed the Palestinian and wounded three close to Israel’s borders with the Gaza Strip.

Earlier, witnesses and hospital officials said that a Palestinian was killed and three were wounded when a leftover ordnance from previous Israeli shelling exploded in eastern Gaza City.

Israel Radio and Hamas’ Al-Aqsa satellite channel reported initially that the explosion was a result of Israel’s tank fire, but other sources informed Xinhua that an explosive device went off near the four people, killing one of them. Two of the wounded received serious injuries.

The Israeli army had no immediate comment on the incident which comes in a period of relative calmness after Gaza’s Hamas rulers persuaded smaller armed groups to cease rocket fire against Israel.
