Resheq: Palestinians never assigned negotiator

DAMASCUS, (PIC)– Izzat Al-Resheq, a senior member of Hamas’s politburo, said his party was enraged at the nearly 2,000 documents published by Al-Jazeera this week on negotiations that put most of Jerusalem in Israel’s hands.

He condemned Tuesday the Palestinian Authority and PLO for negotiating away large portions of Jerusalem, the Aqsa Mosque and the Palestinians’ right to return to their homeland.

“Our rights as a people are inalienable and unwaivable. The Palestinians did not assign anyone to negotiate over their rights. PA and PLO leaders and negotiators do not represent the Palestinians but only represent themselves,” Resheq said.

In response to the leak of documents, Palestinian Legislative Council Speaker Aziz Dweik called to activate the role of the PLC, re-build the PLO based on the 2005 Cairo Agreements and return matters to the elected legislature, whose right it is to punish those who tamper with the Palestinians’ rights.

“The fate of the people should be in their hands, not in the hands of those who neglect them,” Dweik said.

“It is time for the people’s representatives to speak on their behalf, those who were chosen freely and democratically.”

He called on the Arabs to clarify positions on the concessions revealed by the documents.

Abbas claimed all negotiations were held under Arab consultation.
