GAZA, (PIC)– The Gaza religious affairs ministry said it is working to strenghten ties with the Christian community in the Strip. Minister Talib Abu Sha’ar met with George Hernandez, pastor of the Church of the Holy Family, while making rounds to the Latin Monestary Church in Gaza city amid attempts to strengthen cooperation between the government and the Christian Palestinians. As Palestinian citizens, they have rights and duties, Abu Sha’ar said. The government works to protect its citizens without exception and to secure al holy sites in the Gaza Strip, he added. He expressed hope that Gaza would become a world model for providing safety and protection to Islamic and Christian holy sites alike. “Jerusalem, the Aqsa Mosque and the Islamic and Christian holy sites are subjected to a fierce Israeli attack. They require intense protection efforts and exposure to Israeli crimes,” he said. Pastor George Hernandez expressed delight at Gaza’s role in spreading tolerance, love and brotherhood among all Palestinians. |
