OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– Israeli president Shimon Peres said during a speech at the 11th annual Herzliya Conference’s inaugural ceremony on Sunday night that the Palestinian negotiators did not insist on the Palestinian refugees’ right of return.

Addressing the stalled Israeli-Palestinian peace process, the president implied that the recently released Palestine Papers show that although the process has limped along due to the parties’ mutual suspicions of one another, “but we have seen that the Palestinians are open.” He added, “We thought that they would continue to insist on the right of return for 5 million refugees, but we were wrong.”

The Qatari Al-Jazeera TV network displayed 1600 secret PA documents revealing big concessions offered by the Palestinian negotiators affiliated with the Ramallah authority to Israel topped by dropping the right of return and surrendering big chunks of occupied Jerusalem.
