UN human rights commissioner to visit relatives of Palestinian prisoners

GAZA, (PIC)– Navi Pillay, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, is to visit the Gaza Strip on Thursday to meet with relatives of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails, the support the prisoners organization announced on Monday.

It described in a statement the visit as an opportunity to explain the suffering of those prisoners in Israeli detention.

The organization said that Pillay accepted the invitation and agreed to listen to the suffering of those prisoners during a meeting with four representatives of relatives of those prisoners along with delegates representing a number of institutions concerned with the issue of prisoners.

The organization asked Pillay to reactivate and implement the relevant UN resolutions and to work hard for protecting human rights.
