MPs: PA to blame for Sheikh Jarrah settlement project

WEST BANK, (PIC)– The MPs threatened with exile said the Palestinian Authority headed by Mahmoud Abbas was to blame for Israel’s approval to construct new homes for Jewish settlers in the East Jerusalem district of Sheikh Jarrah.

The Jerusalem MPs have been sitting in at the Jerusalem Red Cross for the last seven months demanding an end to the Israeli decision that would have them exiled from the holy city. But they have continued to represent the Palestinians outside of the parliament.

They said in statements on Tuesday: The construction plan would never have been passed without approval from Palestinian leaders who compromised Jerusalem during negotiations. The secret documents revealing unprecedented PA concessions leaked by Al-Jazeera TV are only a small part of that, they said.

The MPs assigned blame to the ”international complicity”, saying international law classes Jerusalem an occupied city that cannot be transformed in any way.

They warned of new plans by Israel that will be launched in the next coming days.

Separately, MP Ahmed Attoun denounced statements by Israeli rabbi Dov Lior urging Jews to pave the way for erecting the alleged temple in the place of the Aqsa Mosque.

He said Arab silence and neglect of Jerusalem were to blame for the escalation of similar religious rulings and Israeli attacks on the holy city and its people.
