GAZA, (PIC)– Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri called on the new Egyptian leadership to reconsider ousted president Hosni Mubarak’s policies towards the besieged Gaza Strip and to immediately issue a decision to open the Rafah border crossing before individuals and goods.

In a press release on Sunday, spokesman Abu Zuhri said his Movement hopes that the political developments in Egypt could be a gateway to a new page of relations between Cairo and Gaza.

“We, in Hamas, were constantly keen on special relations with Cairo even under the ousted regime of Hosni Mubarak because we considered that this relationship was with Egypt and not with persons,” he added.

“We believe that the new Egyptian leadership is required to reassess the policies of the former regime towards Gaza and Hamas or towards the Palestinian cause in general,” the spokesman stressed.
