Female prisoner Abeer enters 11th year in Israeli jails

GAZA, (PIC)– The Palestinian ministry of detainees’ affairs said that female prisoner Abeer Amro, 33, from Dura village in Al-Khalil city, has entered Sunday her 11th year in Israeli jails.

Information director of the ministry Riyadh Al-Ashqar explained that prisoner Amro was kidnapped on February 20, 2001 and has been serving a 16-year imprisonment sentence since then, noting that she is in very bad medical condition and needs to be referred to a specialized doctor.

Ashqar added that the prisoner also suffers from vision and hearing problems as well as constant pains in her back and head as a result of her exposure to beating at the hands of Talmond prison jailers after her kidnapping.

Her sister, Fatin Amro, said that Abeer was chained at her legs and hands when she visited her last time.

The Palestinian official pointed out that Israel is holding 36 Palestinian women in its jails under harsh incarceration condition and deprive them of their most basic rights.

He also affirmed that the last Palestinian woman imprisoned by Israel was Alia Al-Ja’bari, 40, from Al-Khalil city and she suffers from serious health problems in her liver and glands and need urgent medical care outside the prison.
