Silwan, Jerusalem (SILWANIC) — Confrontations erupted this evening throughout several districts of Silwan between Israeli forces and Palestinian residents. Violence has been concentrated in Baten al-Hawa, where dozens of residents have suffered the asphyxiating effects of tear gas inhalation when fired by Israeli troops. Youths threw Molotov cocktails in response at Israeli soldiers, who have occupied the roof of a Palestinian residence for over six months now.

This makeshift military base has been a point of contention and scene of violence on many occasions, with clashes erupting in the past when it had been previously set alight.

Meanwhile in Bir Ayyub district, an Israeli military jeep has been torched during clashes. Live ammunition has been used by Israeli forces and the atmosphere throughout the village is extremely tense.
