GAZA, (PIC)– A Gaza fish dealer was killed Thursday by an unidentified shooter still at large in the city of Yaffa.

Jawwad Mahmoud al-Balaawi, 55, who owns several shops in Yaffa, was banished from the city two years back but had recently been allowed to travel there through the Beit Hanoun (Erez) border crossing in northern Gaza Strip.

It was the second time he was allowed entry to monitor interests in Yaffa, the victim’s cousin Osama al-Balaawi told Quds Press.

Balaawi’s family has made several contacts to learn who was behind the incident.

According to one Arab website inside the 1948-occupied territories, the deceased was shot near a restaurant leading to critical injuries and then carried to the hospital where he died after several attempts to save his life.

The source quoted eyewitnesses as saying two men on a motorcycle fired at Balaawi and fled the scene. Israeli police have opened an investigation and are working to hunt down the assailants.
