RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Palestinian prisoner Waleed Aqel appealed for saving the lives of Palestinian patients under detention in the Israeli hospital of Ramle prison and affirmed they suffer from serious medical neglect.

Aqel told the international Tadamun (solidarity) foundation for human rights on Monday that the administration of Ramle prison is in contract with Assaf Harofeh medical center, but this center lacks quality medical services and does not provide necessary medications.

The prisoner noted the patients also suffer from misdiagnosis and bureaucratic attitude inside the hospital and many of them who are in serious condition do not receive appropriate treatment.

Prisoner Waleed Aqel was kidnapped from his home on January 19, 1992 in Nusseirat refugee camp in Gaza and he is serving 16 life sentences. He is married and has four kids.

Aqel was transferred three months ago from Jalbo prison to Ramle hospital after his health deteriorated badly.
