OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– A leading Jerusalem rights group has launched a wide-ranging campaign in coordination with local and world organizations to ensure that every last right of Jerusalem natives jailed in Israeli prisons is preserved.

The organization Al-Maqdese for Society Development (MSD) has assigned a team of lawyers to follow cases involving all the individual and collective rights of the more than 200 Jerusalem prisoners in Israeli custody.

The group has already made a number of visits to Israeli prisons across Palestine and met with more than 60 prisoners to inspect living conditions and document rights violations in the prisons according to international laws and conventions.

The campaign also includes meetings with a number of organizations dealing in prisoner rights to create a network of cooperation.

The MSD has established a comprehensive and detailed database regarding Jerusalem detainees, which includes their whereabouts, sentences and court dates, and has prepared reports spelling out the prisoners’ most urgent needs. Ten collective cases are so far in progress.

The MSD has contacted the Israeli Prison Service to clarify rights violations needed to be addressed and is waiting for responses, upon which cases will be brought to the central courts.
