Sheikh Jarah, Jerusalem (SILWANIC) — Two Israeli activists, and one Palestinian were released by the Jerusalem Magistrates Court yesterday, after they were arrested on Friday 4 March in the weekly Sheikh Jarrah protest.

The weekly Friday demonstrations in Sheikh Jarrah have been going for over two years now, in opposition to Israeli settler campaign of gradual annexation of the Palestinian neighborhood in East Jerusalem, manifested through complex legal means on a house-by-house basis. Five families have already been evicted from their homes, several of them living on the street outside the annexed properties in protest for several months thereafter. The settlers of Sheikh Jarrah are notorious for their harassment and intimidation of both the Palestinians of the neighborhood and their Israeli and international supporters, who maintain a 24-hour presence in Sheikh Jarrah in solidarity with the residents.
