On Sunday the Red Crescent Society announced closure of services centers in the villages of Nil’in, Bidya, Jiftlek, Dura, Jaba, Yatta, Beni Na’im, the Old City of Hebron, central Jerusalem, Bir Zeit, and Tubas. Staff shifts were also lengthened. Red Crescent sources have not given a reason for the closure.

Red Crescent employees demanded in a letter that legislative council members and other national leaders intervene to stop the closure of the service centers and force the Red Crescent to implement Palestinian employment laws.

The union accused the management of the Red Crescent Society of trying to bypass Palestinian employment laws, claiming that deals were reached between the union and the management in the past.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society is the main ambulance and emergency provider in the Palestinian territories, providing services for free. According to a Red Crescent source who did not want to be named, many medics and ambulance drivers working for the society were killed by Israeli gunfire while helping people during military attacks on Palestinian communities.
