RAFAH, (PIC)– Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said one of its resistance fighters died at night Tuesday during a special resistance mission without stating further details.

In a communiqué, the Brigades mourned the death of Abdulhamid Abu Ghali, 21, from Rafah city and vowed to continue its preparations for the defense of Gaza against any Zionist attack.

A number of Al-Qassam resistance fighters have died since the outbreak of 2000 intifada during special secret missions.

In a separate incident, a Palestinian workman died Tuesday evening inside a tunnel used to bring food and other vital needs into the besieged Gaza Strip in Rafah area.

A medical source told the Palestinian information center (PIC) that Yousuf Balawi, 29, from Gaza city died buried when the tunnel he was working in suddenly collapsed.

More than 150 impoverished Gazan workmen have died so far in similar incidents.

Tunnels are considered the lifeline for Gaza people who have been under blockade for more than four years.
