Israeli public radio confirmed the death of one 60-year-old Israeli woman after she was transported to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem. The radio originally reported that 15 people were moderately or severely injured and 10 others lightly injured, while the Saudi-run al-Arabiya news channel reported 20 injuries, 4 critical. Ha’aretz later reported that the total of injuries had risen to 31 by 5 p.m.

Casualties were evacuated to the Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem after an apparent bomb hit buses 74 and 14. Initial police reports say that the bomb was left inside a bag at a bus stop near the Central Bus Station in Jerusalem.

Al-Arabiya live feeds show Bus 74 with windows smashed and Israeli medics moving stretchers, while Israeli online news Ha’aretz reported that the blast was not the result of a suicide bomber, but a bomb tied to a telephone pole.

Most victims, according to Shaare Zedek Medical Center’s Deputy Director, were between the ages of 15 and 30. Israeli authorities have deemed the incident a terror attack, though no group has claimed responsibility. According to YNetNews, one Gaza militant group called the Popular Resistance Committees said the attack came in response to “Israeli’s crimes.”

Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip in the past two days have killed 8 Palestinians, including three children, and injured 29 others.
