WEST BANK, (PIC)– Abbas al-Sayyid will continue his hunger strike until all his demands are met, Sayyid wrote in a letter he wrote from the Israeli Ramle prison.

He has been transferred to the prison hospital after his health deteriorated during his fourth week of hunger strike.

His blood-sugar level has dropped to dangerous levels, and he has begun to experience severe dizziness and nausea, according to attorney Mohammed Abidene who visited him yesterday.

”Although I am fully confident that I will soon be free – Allah willing – I have put myself in a position when going on hunger strike: I could let my dignity be trampled by the Ramon prison director and officers and doctors, or  I could stand strong with pride, dignity, steadfastness, patience, and trust in Allah. I chose the second option, asking Allah for success.”

Meanwhile, former prisoner affairs minister Wasfi Kabaha has condemned the Palestinian Engineering Association – Jerusalem Center for its stagnancy as Sayyid, a fellow engineer, faces torture and harassment while alone in solitary confinement.

”It does not make sense that the engineering association is contacted every time to follow the cases of its associates…It could at least give a media position or stand in solidarity or send a lawyer to learn his health condition,” Kabaha said.

He suggested that the union could expose itself to suspicion of  partisanship after its neglect of associates, who also include himself and Khalid Abu Arafeh, who has been seeking sanctuary at the Red Cross in Jerusalem as Israel has ordered that he leave his native holy city.
