Mer-Khamis was in Ramallah last night at the Al Kasaba Theater for the opening The Chairs, a play he directed and acted in by French-Romanian playwright of Eugene Ionesco.
From Israeli and Palestinian heritage, the Nazareth-born Mer-Khamis was famous for his art and activism, clashing with traditional society and the Israeli occupation.
In honor of his life and work, The Palestine Monitor posts the film Arna’s Children, a documentary about Mer-Khamis’ mother and her struggle to fight Israeli and Palestinian injustice from the stage.
